Apo Island, Paradise Philippines

Dumaguete is a city in paradise Philippine which is known to be the “ City of Gentle People” where you will find the Apo Island which is a 72-hectare volcanic rock situated in the Mindanao Sea .

Apo island comprises of a protected coral reef surrounding a volcanic island in the Visayan Sea, Negos Oriental province. It is one of the top ten dive sites in the country and around the world.


There are 11 main dive sites in here and each one offers unique experience for divers. These are Chapel, Boluarte, Largahan, Rock point, Sanctuary, Mamsa point, Kan-u-ran, Coconut, Cogon and the Olo point.

Apo island in paradise Philippines is a marine sanctuary where fishing is strictly prohibited. However, the traditional method of fishing is allowed beyond the sanctuary’s area.

How to get there

You can get three by land, by sea, and by air. If you choose the air route, you can take the 40-minute plane ride from Cebu towards the city of Dumaguete. And if you are coming from Manila, you can take a direct flight towards Dumaguete. The travel time is about one hour and thirty minutes. Daily ship routes reach Dumaguete City from several ports in Visayas and Mindanao. And there is a twice a week ship voyage from Manila direct to Dumaguete. The travel time for the sea voyage is about 36 hours.

From the airport in Dumaguete it is about 45 minutes drive (25 km) along the coast to Malatapay. Apo Island is a further 30 minute banca (a motorized outrigger boat) ride from Malatapay.
